Have you ever seen the Aurora borealis

It only happens in the Northern hemisphere's, the other name for it is the northern lights, we see it regularly on the Isle of Lewis i have put a couple of videos on, i think its a way that god lets us know of the wonders of our beautiful world, it has bought about, by sun spot activity, bringing the solar winds past our earth, it never ceases to put a lump in my throat, when i see it. I hope you all enjoy it, kindest regards Peter

Hi Nina, hope that you and your family are well, glad that you enjoyed the video, did you know that when the video is finished, if you look at the bottom, there are little pictures, these are more videos and slide shows if you click on them, nice to hear from you, its always nice to hear from you, i am feeling very pleased with myself as i have been contacted by the CBC Canadian Broadcasting Company, they are planning to come to my garden to make a documentary about having a garden in such extreme conditions, this will happen in the next 14 days.
Do you think that the group would have any objections if i posted some photo's of my garden here, after all it is about nature and some pictures of the beautiful flowers i grow, from all over the world, kindest regards from Peter and my Daughter Mary-Anne.
This is one of the lilies out of my garden.

I have seen the northern lights. One Christmas we were in Lapland and I saw a moving green curtain quite plainly. I was told the rarest colours to see is pink.

I think though such a sight should be seen at southern pole as well.

I think you were very fortunate to observe the northern winds from Lewis but given choice of Lapland or Lewis I opt for Lapland.

Hello Linda, seeing the Northern lights on the Isle of Lewis is a regular occurrence, when there is a lot of sun spot activity and the sun is in a active time period, don't presume to be an expert in this matter, personally speaking, i would rather sit in the comfort of my garden, enjoy the perfume of my flowers and enjoy this beautiful spectacle on the occasions that the conditions are right, i am very lucky compared with you in London as we do not have the problem of pollution and light pollution, here on the Island, and also i do not know whether you are aware of the hole in the ozone layer that moves around the northern hemisphere, which allows places that would not allow places to see the lights to see them, they have been recorded in many parts of Russia, Germany and Norway, so in fact i am not very lucky to see them, and you can keep Lapland and enjoy the northern lights from there for me.
The comfort of my acre garden is perfect for me, as i get incredible views of the night sky , without any light pollution, or any other pollution, like you have in London and i value the peace and tranquility of the Island that i live one, we get some of the most incredible sunsets here, it is the part of the UK that the sun sets last of all on, in the summer months, we have very long daylight hours, that spread from one day to another, i could walk around my garden quite comfortably in twilight and daylight starts to arrive at 2am, oh i suppose i imagine that too, i have posted some of the sunset pictures fro you to see, taken from my garden and before you put another argument up, they have not been digitally altered, they are as seen. kindest regards from Peter. By the way i am not from Lewis i originate from Northumberland a tiny little village that was out in the sticks, i won gardener of the year there for my garden in the whole of the UK, it inspired me to look for my dream cottage and garden, which the cottage was derelict for 12 years and uninhabitable, the land around was marshy rush moorland and i have spent that last ten years rebuilding the cottage inside and out, installed electricity myself, water and made the garden that you have seen, all by my own hands, which i am very proud of and i have my little peace of paradise up here and i do not need to go to Lapland, to escape my surroundings, i have all of the beauty that i have around me and peace and quietness, not deafened by the roar of traffic, There is nothing wrong with the Isle of Lewis it is a beautiful place to live and you would meet people that you have never met before, very gentle, very kind, the people of Lewis are really lovely people, it is like stepping back in time, but having all of the advantage of the modern world, everything rely on good weather for the ferry to bring supplies to the Island, we do have modern superstores diy places etc and everything you could possibly need here, the population is 22000 and they are building the biggest wind turbine farm in the world here, i would much rather have wind power than have radiation poisoning or choke from the fumes of coal burning, etc.
No offence ment in any way.
in cas eyou have any doubt that i have taken these photo's just take a good look at the landscape not only can you see my garden, but the landscape is the same in all of these photo's, by the way science is my subject.

Yes Peter, I have seen them. I was in Indiana,US for the car race(Indy 500.) We camped overnight before the race. That night we were privileged to see them. At first we didn't know what they were. Truly a beautiful sight. Is hard to imagine such things exist in nature.
